Gender Equality Plan

Bilim Organization for Research and Social Studies (BORSS) recognizes the significance of equal opportunities for young, passionate, and professional Afghan researchers irrespective of their gender. Our aim is to transform BILIM by consolidating quality, diversity, inclusivity, and neutrality into our research activities for policymaking and academia.

BILIM’s approach toward gender equality is informed by the current situation of the country specifically in reference to the regulations in place by the current caretaker government. As an NGO registered in Afghanistan, we are committed to following and implementing the roles and regulations of the Ministry of Economy and other relevant governmental organizations. In the meantime, we are equally determined in our commitment to actively contribute toward women’s empowerment in their professional and academic endeavors. We recognize that the current situation in Afghanistan is sensitive and requires a balanced and well-articulated approach to ensure both gender equality and political neutrality.

The plan also focuses on awareness and prevention of gender-based violence within and outside the working environment. It further outlines activities, outcomes, and indicators defined to reach the expected results. The plan was prepared after consultation with the board of trustees, female employees, the executive board, and Bilim’s community of researchers across a wide range of backgrounds. We have ensured that the perspective of women working in different capacities in the context of research undertakings has been reflected throughout the document. The followings are five key objectives of the Bilim gender equality plan.
